Since the Parliamentary Elections of 2017, the Government of Timor-Leste started to establish voting centers overseas to allow Timorese citizens living in various countries to vote. In the United Kingdom, one voting center was established, at the Embassy of of Timor-Leste in London.
In order to vote, Timorese citizens in the United Kingdom with voting rights must register with the electoral Team from the Technical Secretariate for the Administration of Elections (STAE), who will update their information and print for them new electoral cards.
For the forthcoming election this year, STAE, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy in London are making preparations to start voters registration.
Who can vote?
What are the requirements?
In order to vote, voters must present thir electoral card. The electoral law also provide that voters must cast their vote at the voting center in the area where they registered. Most Timorese in the United Kingdom are registered in Timor-Leste. In order to vote in the voting center established in the UK, these voters must register and update their residency information in their electoral card. Citizens with voting right who have never registered may register afresh.
To register, they must do the following:
1. Complete and submit the Consular Registration Form;
2. Along with the above, present the original or an authenticated copy of any of the following documents:
If a citizen is not in possession of any of the above documents,
he or she must do the following:
1. Complete and submit the Consular Registration Form, and

2. Present a document officially issued by the authorities of the
United Kingdom indicating that he or she was born in Timor-Leste,
or that her or his parent(s) is (or are) Timorese citizen(s),
or
3. Present a foreign identification document in which he or she is
clearly identified as having been born in
Timor-Leste.
Provisional Entry
1. Citizens who have completed 16 years of age may register in the
voters' registration;
2. If a citizen has registered in the voters' registration, but has
not completed 17 years of ag before the election day, he or she is
not entitled to vote;
3. A citizen who has registered in the voters' registration before
reaching 17 year may vote if he or she has completed 17 years of
age before the election day.

Through this website, the Embassy of Timor-Leste in London will continually provide update on the election process, from voters' registration to voting.
